Not only is having a wedding video a great idea but imagine how creative it is to have an engagement session with video and then add that to your wedding video. Creating a video like that enables us to really document your love story. My love of videography started when I was growing up. I learned a lot about my father from these video. I learned what was important to him and that was capturing all aspects of our growing up. My father always had his camera and video handy no matter where we went. I loved video the most because I could dance around and have more fun than just standing still for my father to take my picture. Now it's so much fun to be able to let you be you and infuse photographs into your video. Imagine adding video to your family portrait session. How so? You need first to know : 1) Where you are going (this is where your wedding will be. Maybe your wedding will be on Boca Grande. 2) When you will go (this is your wedding date) 3) How much will it cost to get there (this is what your wedding will cost which includes your venue, flowers, photographer, videographer, caterer, wedding favors etc) 4) How will your get there (this is how you will arrive to your wedding. In a limo? In a carriage? 5) WWhat will your wear on your vacation(ahhh, this is your wedding dress) 6) What will those coming with you wear (this is what your brides maids and groom and groomsmen will wear. Like any carefully made plans you always have to have a plan B. The road you take to get to your destination (your wedding) may have some detours. That just makes getting there more satisfying and rewarding. Do you have anxious anticipation planning your vacation? Of course you do. Planning a wedding is no different. That’s all part of getting to where you want to be. Taking this point of view in planning your wedding can give you a whole different perspective. We enoy being your photographer in Sarasota, Tampa, Fort Myers, Naples I think any of us who have had to stand up at a wedding a give a speech do so for the couple but it's certainly not an easy task. Fortunately for you our friend Kye Harman who has a website just for all you men out there has written us about this very subject. When we were photographing a wedding on Boca Grande a few weeks ago I thought of Kye of his advice. So enjoy this post! Writing Your Wedding Speech Could there be anything more terrifying? For many people speaking in public is the ultimate fear while others consider being in the spotlight their rightful place and crave any audience. However most guys fear having to write and deliver a wedding speech. Traditionally the Father of the Bride gives the first speech, during which he ends by toasting the happy couple. It also seems to be tradition for the Brides father to give the longest and dullest speech possible and talk for longer than the ceremony lasted. This can be easily avoided with a few simple tips. Second comes the Groom who will publicly thank the bridesmaids, ushers and acknowledge both sets of parents. The Best Man’s speech is usually given 3rd and there is an expectation that this is the main act of what can sometimes be a rather dull part of proceedings. This speech will either be celebrated as the high point of the wedding or he’ll be removed bodily from the building by the bride’s angry brothers while the bride’s mother looks on scowling. The best man should not only mention the bride but he also answers on behalf of the bridesmaids and ushers for the kind words of the Groom. Timing At many weddings the father of the bride’s has been known to drag out a bit, well it’s only fair, he is the one that laid out all the cash so that a load of relatives he doesn’t like and strangers he’s never met and will probably never meet again can have a free meal and party at his expense. However there is no need for him to be dull and there is help at hand (see below). Most Grooms don’t prepare their speech and try to rush through it as quickly as possible, seeing as its his party the Groom can get away with delivering his speech however he chooses. The perfect wedding speech should last around 7 minutes. Language Swearing is a big “no no”. Just don’t do it. Remember this will be a very mixed crowd. Jokes Most of the time the real fun stuff comes from the Best Man however although he is there to ensure the groom gets a comedy roast what might seem really funny to a the Groom and his friends down the pub on a Friday night might not be the kind of thing that’s going to amuse the bride’s grandparents. If you are undecided about whether something is too close to the knuckle then its best to err on the side of caution. The Basic Phases All three of the wedding speeches can be broken down into phases, stick with this basic rules and you can’t go wrong. Here is an example of the Best Man’s speech phases.
Speech Writing Services The internet has numerous companies that offer to write your speech for you and while this may seem an easy option it isn’t a great idea. Firstly these “writers” don’t know you, everyone has a particular way of speaking and so there’s no way they can write for your speech patterns. Also they have never met the happy couple so how can they be qualified to speak to them? No matter whether you are the Father of the Bride, the Groom or the Best Man your speech should come from you. If need be there are plenty of sites that can help providing you with a bonanza of one liners and ice breakers that you can weave into your speech without losing your own important words. But don’t be afraid to mix good humour with a hint of romance, there are many great quotes on love and marriage which can give your speech a touch of class. Let’s face it most guys have never had to write a speech before let alone ensure that it is littered with a few laughs to keep the crowd entertained. Using databases to help bring your speech to life is a useful tip and can certainly fill in the blanks and give you some humorous hand grenades to throw when needed but keep in mind that ultimately it must be YOUR speech and YOUR words, it’s a special celebration and your chance to pay tribute to a couple who hold you in such high esteem. Most of all don’t let the nerves get to you. A famous English comedian once commented that giving a wedding speech is a bit like making love to the queen, it’s a great honour but nobody really wants to do it. People recognise how hard it is to have to give a wedding speech, everyone at the wedding wants you to do a great job and so is on your side willing you to do well. So relax, enjoy and don’t let it give you too many sleepless nights. Stick to the basic rules and you will be celebrated as the hero of the hour. The Father of the Bride will have the adoration of his wife and beautiful daughter and admiration of his friends and relatives. The Groom will show why his new wife chose so wisely and be welcomed into the arms of his new family. For the Best Man…. Well get it right and you could well wind up with your pick of the bridesmaids! Toni Nelson - Nelson Photographers 941-662-0022 www.weddingimagesbynelson.com Boca Grande wedding photographer, Sarasota wedding photographer, engagement photographers, Venice FL, Fort Myers, This is the wedding of Ashley and A.J. Their love story is 4 years in the making. We had such a great time getting to know Ashley, A.J. and their family while being their Boca Grande photographers. The sunset on Boca Grande could not have been better. It's interesting that this couple chose to get married on Boca Grande instead of going to the islands for their wedding. What does that tell you? Boca Grande rocks for weddings! As usual Becki and the staff at the Boca Grande Club were amazing. If you are looking to have your wedding on Boca Grande we highly recommend the Boca Grande Club especially since they have so many photo opportunities as you'll see in this video. We love to hear how couples got engaged. This is Ashley's story of the proposal: Tell your proposal story ... told by Ashley! One day AJ suggested that he and I go to the beach for a get a way weekend. I did not oppose because AJ rarely plans events on his own and I for one was in need of a beach weekend (not that I was becoming pale or anything). I did not think much of it because he said his parents would be coming up on Saturday. It seemed like a normal weekend at the beach. We traveled to Boca Grande, which has become such a huge part of our hearts and our relationship. You cross the bridge and your cares are gone, the water is immaculate every time, the pelicans are every where and you love life more than ever. We cooked dinner as we usually do and decided to go out on the balcony and just look at the stars. I am obsessed with the stars and just thought he was being so nice to do this with me. The next morning AJ and I awoke, gathered our belonging to head to the boat for a day on the sea and then AJ comes downstairs and says his parents are not coming for the weekend. I still did not think too much of it. AJ mentioned one of them "had too much to drink the night before." I should have known something was up, however I am, in fact, one of the most oblivious people walking the earth right now. We had a fabulous day on the water. Not a cloud in the sky, crystal clear water, sun kissing our skin. The day was perfect. AJ even seemed normal, in fact, he even through out some of his "smart ass" remarks, so therefore, I was completely in the blue. We returned to the condo and decided to get ready for dinner at our favorite restaurant, The Temptation! Still, I thought nothing, this is something we ritually do. AJ took the pup for a walk, came back, got ready and said that we should go and check on the boat and then go and watch the sunset. After checking on the boat we heading to a spot the family always goes to watch the sunset. It is off a dock that leads to the ocean. It is gorgeous. He and I are standing on the dock awaiting the sun to set and AJ ask if I would like to walk out on the sand to have "a closer look" I agree. While walking I find myself walking alone and do not feel AJs presence around me. I all the sudden hear him say my name and I turn around and there ...... I find AJ on one knee!! We both began to cry and he began to talk. I will not go into detail of what was said, but it was perfect. Come to find out AJ and Sergeant (our pup) had come to the beach earlier and left a rose and champagne for us. Pup is such a romantic!!! It was perfect. I truly do have a fairly tale engagement story. We later (after talking on the phone with family and friends) went off to our dinner. We ate, drank and agreed to be married :) Enjoy the video of them starting their lives together! Congratulations! We are so excited that we have added video to our photography! As I spoke with Ashley before she saw the video she mentioned the day went by and there were things she knew she missed. Having the video will help her go back in time and relive those moments. It is true you plan and plan for this day and between stress and excitement there are going to be things you'll miss. Adding video is the perfect option to enhance your wedding experience. By having Tom and I at your wedding you are getting complete wedding coverage. With a his and hers point of view we can be in 2 places at the same time!
